Hungary's Olympic Day and Movement Night Encourage Active Lifestyle
On June 20 the Hungarian Olympic Committee hosted Olympic Day in Budapest’s Városliget, aligning the event with the International Olympic Committee’s global “Let’s Move” campaign. Attendees could join community runs, meet Olympians, take part in streetball, volleyball and other sport activities, and receive Olympic‑branded gifts.
A week earlier, on June 12, the town of Szentendre held its first “Movement Night” as part of the nationwide Let’s Move programme. More than a thousand participants gathered at 13 locations for over 40 sports, including zumba, kangoo jumps, fencing, korfball and night‑time hikes. The event featured family‑friendly stations, pulse‑monitoring challenges and a range of indoor and outdoor competitions, showcasing local volunteers and sports organisations.
Both events aim to promote regular physical activity and the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship across Hungary.
