Hungary's online sports gear market surges, e‑rollers lead growth
Data from the e‑commerce platform Allegro shows that Hungarians are buying more sports and wellness equipment online, with the market expected to grow 10–15% this year. Electric scooters account for the largest share of the category at 26%, followed by electric bicycles at 16% and traditional bicycles at 4%. Demand for mountain‑bike parts and accessories is also rising.
Interest in newer activities is boosting sales of padel rackets, Pilates mats and related gear, while stand‑up paddle (SUP) boards are seeing strong summer‑season demand. Other sports such as tennis, climbing, basketball, wrestling, wakeboarding and water‑skiing have recorded ten‑fold increases compared with the previous year. The most active online buyers are members of Generation X and Y, aged 30‑60.
