Bucharest suspect detained after alleged knife‑threatened sexual assault in Sector 2

On the night of 4 July 2026, police in Bucharest’s Sector 2 were alerted by a 112 call from a woman who said she was approached on Măgura Vulturului Street, threatened with a knife and forced into a nearby parking lot where she was sexually assaulted.

Officers from several units tracked the suspect to Șoseaua Iancului, pursued him, recovered the knife he had discarded under a car and detained him for 24 hours. He will be presented to the Sector 2 court with a proposal for preventive detention on charges of rape, illegal deprivation of liberty and weapon offences.
