Hungary's used car market sees surge in demand, younger inventory and higher prices

In June, interest in Hungary's used‑car portal rose to 385,400 inquiries, up from 366,500 a year earlier, while listings exceeded 98,400. The average supply price jumped more than 10% to 5.47 million HUF, and the average age of cars fell from 13.15 to 12.6 years with mileage dropping about 8,000 km.

Gasoline models posted a notable rebound, adding over 14,000 inquiries to reach 206,200 for the month. Diesel demand slipped by more than 10%. At the same time, demand for alternative powertrains accelerated: hybrid inquiries surged 57% and electric interest rose 34%. SUVs also gained traction, with a 29% rise in inquiries, pushing total SUV interest above 81,000.

Overall, the market is shifting toward younger, higher‑priced vehicles, with stronger consumer interest in hybrids, electric cars and SUVs, while diesel models continue to lose ground.
