Huỳnh Lập adopts cinematic approach in new film

Director Huỳnh Lập is adopting a more cinematic approach in his latest film, ‘Nghỉ Hè Sợ Nghỉ Hưu’, moving away from the heavy web-drama style seen in his previous projects. The production emphasizes visual storytelling through significant investments in cinematography and set design.

To ensure authenticity, the crew sought professional consultation for scenes involving national spirit and military imagery. Rather than using existing locations, the team constructed custom sets to allow for better camera placement and visual intent. The film utilizes dual cinematographers, Nguyễn Hữu Hoàng Nam and Võ Thanh Tiền, to create depth and contrast across different character generations and timelines. Additionally, the post-production process focuses on using light and color to define character personalities and emotional spaces.
