Hunnyboy reveals how social media secured Shatta Wale collaboration

Ghanaian Afro-fusion singer Hunnyboy, born Edward Tagoe, has detailed how a social media campaign facilitated a career-defining collaboration with dancehall star Shatta Wale.

Lacking major industry connections, Hunnyboy utilized Instagram and Twitter to promote his music. He recounted posting a video with the caption, ‘imagine Shatta Wale’s voice on this,’ and tagging the artist directly. Following a surge of fan engagement and repeated tagging, Shatta Wale commented on one of Hunnyboy’s videos, calling the music ‘fire’ and instructing him to contact Sammy Flex to arrange a collaboration.

The partnership resulted in the February 2025 hit single ‘Winning,’ produced by Skantybeats. The success of the track led to Hunnyboy performing at ShattaFest, an event attended by over 600,000 people.
