Hunter As a Horse releases debut album Paradise Lost

South African musician Mia van Wyk, performing as Hunter As a Horse, issued her debut album Paradise Lost on 24 July 2026 through Metropolis Records. The twelve‑track record is available on vinyl, CD and digital platforms and is accompanied by a music video for the title track. Van Wyk describes the work as an exploration of her “shadow, transformation and inner architecture,” mixing dark‑pop, dream‑pop and nu‑goth sounds while addressing themes such as death, addiction and personal resilience. The album includes five previously released singles – “Lighthouse,” “Here’s To All The Ones,” “Paradise Lost,” “Obey” and “Leviathan” – and seven new songs. A video for “Paradise Lost” shows Van Wyk performing in a garage workshop intercut with footage of Appalachian serpent‑handling worship, linking motifs of danger, faith and salvation.
