Hunter Biden's $LAPTOP crypto token crashes after rapid launch
Hunter Biden launched a cryptocurrency token named $LAPTOP on the Base blockchain on September 9, 2026. The token, which references his previous personal laptop controversies, experienced extreme volatility, peaking at approximately $190 within minutes before crashing by roughly 98 percent within the first hour of trading.
Blockchain analytics firm Arkham noted that the fully diluted valuation briefly reached $144 billion against a liquidity pool of only $48,000. Following the price collapse, the project's X account was suspended, though no official reason was provided by the platform. Biden has denied accusations that the offering was a “crypto scam” or a “rug pull.”
In a social media post, Biden tagged Elon Musk, jokingly asking if the ban on the LAPTOP account could be lifted while referencing warnings from Musk and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei regarding the future of artificial intelligence. There is currently no verified evidence that Musk has responded to the request or taken any action regarding the token.
