Hunter Davies reflects on his role as authorized Beatles biographer

Veteran author and journalist Hunter Davies, the authorized biographer of The Beatles, reflects on his history with the band. Davies, who is 90 years old, spent two years with members Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, and George Harrison, observing them in the studio and with their families.

Davies recalls suggesting to McCartney that the band required a proper biography to explain their unique branding and style. While his work was later criticized by John Lennon as a ‘whitewash’, Davies maintains that the band's influence and musical creativity remain unmatched by any subsequent artists.
