St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins will be sidelined for approximately 12 months following reconstructive elbow surgery. The procedure was performed to repair a torn UCL and flexor tendon in his right elbow.

Dobbins, 27, last pitched on August 21 against the Philadelphia Phillies before leaving a game due to forearm tightness. This marks the second major elbow surgery for the pitcher, who previously underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 while with the Boston Red Sox organization.

The extended recovery timeline puts Dobbins' entire 2027 season in jeopardy. During his current season with the Cardinals, he recorded a 3.67 ERA across 11 appearances, including eight starts.
