Hunter kills horse by mistake in Graubünden, Switzerland

A hunter in the Swiss municipality of Avers, located in the canton of Graubünden, accidentally shot and killed a horse on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 6:00 AM when the individual, believing they were targeting a deer in a meadow, realized the mistake immediately after the shot.

The hunter reported the error to game wardens and admitted to the facts. Following the incident, the individual's hunting permit was revoked on the spot, and a complaint will be filed with the Graubünden prosecutor's office. Police noted that while such errors are rare, they emphasize the fundamental rule of ensuring the target is correctly identified before firing.
