Hunter Valley Wine Show recognizes top regional producers

The 54th annual PKF Hunter Valley Wine Show concluded with sixteen producers receiving trophies, celebrating the diversity of the historic Australian wine region. The event featured 652 entries from 69 exhibitors, with judging conducted at the Singleton Showground by a panel including Master of Wine Toni Paterson and international judge Dr Jamie Goode.

De Iuliis Wines earned significant recognition, with its 2023 Limited Release Shiraz winning the Doug Seabrook Memorial Trophy for Best Red Wine of Show, alongside the Hector Tulloch Memorial Trophy for Best Shiraz and the James Busby Memorial Trophy for Best Three-Year-Old and Older Shiraz. Dr Jamie Goode noted that the focus and age-worthiness of the region’s Shiraz were “quite unlike anything else in Australia.”

Brokenwood Wines secured the Best White Wine of Show title with its 2019 ILR Reserve Semillon, also winning trophies for Best Single Vineyard White Wine and Best Semillon. Other notable winners included Thomas Wines, which received multiple honors for its Sweetwater Ridge and Synergy Shiraz varieties, and Silkman Wines, which swept the chardonnay categories.
