Hunter x Hunter features Kaiji series reference in latest chapter

The latest chapter of the manga ‘Hunter x Hunter’ (Chapter 420), published in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 41, has sparked significant discussion among fans due to an unexpected reference to the series ‘Kaiji’.

In the chapter, the character Hisoka is depicted playing a high-stakes pachinko machine known as ‘Numa’ (The Swamp), a notorious gambling device from Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s ‘Kaiji’ series. The depiction includes specific details from the original work, such as the character holding a canned beer used in the ‘Kaiji’ gambling mechanics.

Following the release, the official social media account for ‘Ichijou Seiya no Ichinichi Gaitsurok Hancho’, a spin-off of the ‘Kaiji’ series, responded to the appearance. The account posted a message referencing the character’s behavior and included onomatopoeia that mirrored the sounds made by Hisoka in the chapter, acknowledging the connection between the two series.
