Hunting associations in Croatia and Slovenia celebrate 80th anniversaries

Two regional hunting associations in Croatia and Slovenia recently celebrated their 80th anniversaries, marking eight decades of local tradition and nature conservation.

In Croatia, LD Srnjak Donji Kraljevec-Goričan held a ceremony to commemorate its history, which dates back to 1946. The event brought together members, representatives from the Croatian Hunting Federation, and local officials to honor the organization's role in managing hunting grounds and fostering community ties. The association has undergone several reorganizations since its founding in Sveti Juraj u Trnju.

In Slovenia, Lovska družina Tuhinj also marked 80 years of operation. Established in September 1946 with only ten members, the group now manages over 3,800 hectares of hunting grounds. The association highlighted its commitment to wildlife management, including the maintenance of feeding stations and shelters. Officials emphasized that the organization's mission extends beyond hunting to include environmental stewardship and the preservation of natural balances.
