Huntingdonshire Council to review £1 million car park development spending
Huntingdonshire District Councillors have unanimously voted to conduct a review of expenditures related to a proposed development project involving three car parks. The project, a partnership with property developer Capital & Centric, aims to build major housing developments in St Neots, St Ives, and Huntingdon.
Documents released by the council reveal that over £1 million has been spent on early-stage design and planning work between January and July. Specific costs include approximately £323,751 in architectural fees, over £200,000 in development management fees, and £100,000 in project management costs. The decision to review the spending follows public anger regarding the potential loss of parking spaces and internal political friction, which previously led to the collapse of the council's joint administration.
