Huntington Bancshares launches $80 billion community investment plan
Huntington Bancshares Inc. announced a five‑year, $80 billion Community Plan aimed at expanding financial opportunities in the United States. The initiative was shaped after meetings with more than 350 community organizations, including members of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC).
The plan allocates $40 billion to consumer and home lending, $22 billion to small‑business financing, $18 billion to community‑development loans and investments, and $32 billion to under‑resourced communities. Huntington’s chairman, president and CEO Steve Steinour said the commitment “deepens” the bank’s 160‑year tradition of investing in the people and neighborhoods it serves. NCRC President and CEO Jesse Van Tol highlighted the broader impact on neighborhoods, small‑business growth and family opportunities.
Huntington notes that prior community plans have delivered nearly 270,000 loans totaling $37.8 billion to low‑ and moderate‑income borrowers, along with more than $12.3 billion in community‑development lending and investments since 2021.
