Huntington Beach advances to CIF girls' flag football semifinals

Huntington Beach secured a spot in the CIF Southern Section Open Division semifinals with a 25-6 victory over Mater Dei. The win allows the Oilers to advance from Pool D via point differential, joining the semifinals after finishing with a 1-1 record alongside Mater Dei and Lakewood St. Joseph.

Quarterback Roxie Shaia led the offense with three touchdown passes to Shelby Nguyen, Daisy Quatman, and Brianna Massion. Huntington Beach, the No. 4 seed, is scheduled to face top-ranked JSerra in the semifinal game this Saturday.

Piedmont High School also concluded its girls' flag football season following a 27-14 loss to Terra Linda in the North Coast Section playoffs. Despite a third-quarter touchdown by Edie Elmquist to Skye Prata that briefly gave Piedmont a 14-13 lead, Terra Linda secured the comeback victory in the fourth quarter.
