Huntsville ranks as second fastest-growing pickleball city in U.S
Huntsville has been recognized as the second fastest-growing pickleball city in the United States, according to the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR). The city trails only Cleveland, Ohio, by less than 1%. Data shows a 70.6% increase in new DUPR users in Huntsville over a 12-month period.
Local infrastructure is supporting this growth, including the John Hunt Park Recreation Center Pickleball Complex and the Sandra Moon Community Complex. Max Patin, President of the Huntsville Pickleball Club, noted that the sport's accessibility allows players of various ages and abilities to participate.
In tandem with the sport's mainstream rise, new technology is entering the market. MegaShot has launched the Pickl+ on Kickstarter, a $175 smart paddle designed to turn televisions into digital pickleball courts. The device uses a 9-axis sensor to track swing speed, angle, and arc, providing haptic feedback to mimic real gameplay without the need for a physical court.
