Huntsville road construction projects to begin on Mastin Lake Road and North Memorial Parkway

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced upcoming construction projects in Huntsville affecting Mastin Lake Road and North Memorial Parkway.

Starting Friday, September 4, sections of Mastin Lake Road under the new overpass on North Memorial Parkway/US-231/US-431 will close for several weeks. During this time, both legs of the road will be restricted to right-in/right-out movements only. The $34 million project to extend the mainline and frontage roads is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The contractor, Rogers Group, anticipates the northbound mainline and overpass will open in mid-September, with the southbound section following in early October. Full reopening of the intersection is expected in mid-October.

Additionally, a $2 million resurfacing project for 3.5 miles of North Memorial Parkway (US-231/US-431) is scheduled to begin the evening of Tuesday, September 8. This work will span from Country Club Avenue Northwest to Cedarama Drive Northwest. To reduce traffic disruption, most work will occur at night, with single-lane closures expected between 6 PM and 6 AM, Sunday through Thursday. ALDOT has noted that temporary lane closures will be suspended through the Labor Day weekend to ease traffic flow.
