Hurricane Polo remnants forecast to bring heavy rain to Louisiana

Remnants of Hurricane Polo are expected to bring heavy rainfall and potential flooding to South Louisiana later this week. While the system is currently a major hurricane forecast to move into Baja Mexico, it is expected to weaken after making landfall.

Forecasters indicate that moisture from the system will move across the desert southwest and western Texas before reaching Louisiana by Wednesday. The Weather Prediction Center has identified extreme western Louisiana as being at risk for heavy downpours on Wednesday, with the risk increasing across most of South Louisiana by Thursday.

Rain chances are projected to remain high through Saturday, with probabilities of 60% on Thursday and Saturday, and 70% on Friday. Although heavy rain is expected, the Storm Prediction Center has not placed any Louisiana parishes at risk for severe storms this week.
