Husband murders wife in Bhubaneswar, then attempts suicide

Police in Bhubaneswar’s Mancheswar area have registered a murder case after Pradeep Jena strangled his wife, Monica Jena, and slit her left wrist during an argument. The couple, married in 2019, had been living separately for about two years following marital disputes, including allegations of an extramarital relationship. After the assault, Pradeep attempted suicide by drinking poison and cutting his own hand. Both were taken to a private hospital; Monica was declared dead, while Pradeep remains in serious condition and will be arrested once medically fit. The incident left a six‑year‑old son without his mother; extended family members are caring for the child. Investigators say long‑standing family tensions appear to have triggered the crime.
