Hussein al-Abdallah leads Hezbollah liaison unit
A report by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) has detailed the career of Hussein al-Abdallah, who succeeded Wafiq Safa as the head of Hezbollah’s Liaison and Coordination Unit in February 2026.
Al-Abdallah’s role involves managing communications between Hezbollah and Lebanese state institutions, including the military, judiciary, and security services. His name has recently gained attention following the seizure of approximately 800 kilograms of explosives and related materials by the Lebanese Internal Security Forces at the Dahr al-Baidar checkpoint on October 5.
Reports indicate that al-Abdallah attempted to contact Lebanese military and security leaders to recover the shipment, but these efforts were unsuccessful. Sources suggest the explosives were intended for use against potential Israeli advances in southern Lebanon. The incident highlights the functions of the Liaison and Coordination Unit, also known as ‘Unit 927,’ which facilitates the group's interactions with official state bodies and political forces.
