Hussein al-Sheikh meets EU representative to discuss West Bank violence and elections
Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of Palestine, met with Christophe Beigro, the European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, to discuss critical political and field developments in the Palestinian territories.
The discussions focused on the escalation of settler violence and attacks against Palestinian citizens and property in the West Bank, which al-Sheikh described as a direct threat to security and stability. The meeting also addressed the ongoing war in Gaza, the necessity of reconstruction efforts, and the targeting of UNRWA headquarters and personnel in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Additionally, the two parties reviewed preparations for upcoming Palestinian elections, emphasizing the need for a political, field, and legal environment that supports democratic processes. Al-Sheikh called for more effective international action to hold perpetrators of violence accountable and urged continued European support for protecting the Palestinian people and pursuing peace and stability.
