Hutchinson Poland announces potential layoffs of 170 workers in Żywiec
Hutchinson Poland has announced plans for group layoffs at its Hutchinson 2 plant in Żywiec, which could affect up to 170 employees. The facility currently employs approximately 950 people, meaning a maximum reduction would impact nearly 18 percent of the workforce.
The company attributes the decision to the difficult situation in the automotive industry, a decline in orders, and the conclusion of current production projects without sufficient new projects to replace them. The layoffs are planned to take place in three stages, starting in mid-November and concluding by the end of June.
Representatives from the NSZZ Solidarność trade union have entered negotiations with management to mitigate the impact. Union leaders are proposing a voluntary redundancy program and seeking improved severance packages for affected staff. Negotiations are ongoing to determine if the scale of the layoffs can be reduced.
