Hutson brothers make NHL history in Capitals vs. Canadiens matchup

In a historic NHL matchup, brothers Cole and Lane Hutson faced each other for the first time as the Washington Capitals defeated the Montréal Canadiens 5–4. Both players recorded points during the game, making them only the second pair of brothers in league history to achieve this feat in their first head-to-head meeting, following the Hughes brothers in 2023.

Cole Hutson recorded an assist for Washington, while Lane Hutson scored a goal and added an assist for Montréal. Despite Lane's two-point performance, the Capitals secured the victory, led in part by Alex Tuch, who recorded two goals and an assist.

Individual milestones were noted during the game: Cole Hutson became the fastest defenseman in Capitals history to reach 10 career assists, and Lane Hutson became the fourth defenseman in Canadiens history to score 20 career goals before the age of 23.
