Huub Stapel to star in 'Partizanen' theater production

Actor Huub Stapel will star in the upcoming theater production ‘Partizanen’, scheduled to run for four months at the Rodahal in Kerkrade starting in May 2027. The large-scale regional production is a collaboration between Toneelgroep Maastricht and director Servé Hermans.

Based on true events, the play depicts a group of young Limburg resistance fighters during the Second World War. The narrative follows the group as they attempt to take action by ambushing a weapons transport and capturing German soldiers, only to face unforeseen consequences when their hideout is betrayed and liberation is delayed.

Stapel previously won a Gouden Kalf for his lead role in the 1994 television series of the same name. The script for this theatrical version is being written by Theu Boermans, who also worked on the original 1994 film adaptation. Ticket sales for the production commenced this Monday.
