HVAC experts advise on air conditioning and dehumidifier usage

Experts provide guidance on optimizing air conditioning use and selecting cooling devices for humid climates.

Regarding room ventilation, the recommended approach depends on the type of system in use. For central air conditioning, keeping internal doors open is advised to allow for free air circulation, balance pressure, and prevent the system from overloading. Conversely, for local or individual air conditioning units, closing doors is better for concentrating cooling in a specific space and improving energy efficiency. However, users are cautioned against sealing rooms too tightly, as excessive CO2 buildup can lead to fatigue and poor sleep quality.

When choosing between cooling devices, portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers serve different primary purposes. Portable units are designed to lower room temperature and offer multi-functional benefits like air filtration and moderate dehumidification. However, for environments with high humidity or serious mold issues, a dedicated dehumidifier is more effective, as it can remove significantly more water per day than a portable air conditioner.
