Hvar man fined for public indecency in women's restroom

A 43-year-old graphic designer, identified as M. E., has been fined following an incident in a public restroom in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar, Croatia. Two Spanish tourists reported that they entered a women's toilet after midnight and discovered a man masturbating with his genitals directed toward the entrance.

Police located the man in a fenced courtyard behind the restrooms. During a court hearing in Split, the defendant denied the charges, claiming he was showering in the men's restroom and had only noticed the women as they exited the female section. He suggested the tourists appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, though responding officers stated they did not observe signs of intoxication.

The court ordered the man to pay a fine of 200 euros plus 107 euros in court costs. The defendant maintains his innocence and has the right to appeal the verdict.
