Hvar police officers assaulted during noise complaint intervention
Police officers in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar were assaulted during an intervention early this morning. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM when officers attempted to enforce a noise complaint by ordering the cessation of loud music at a hospitality establishment.
According to the Split-Dalmatia Police Administration, four individuals were detained. During the procedure, a man born in 1985 allegedly threw glasses and bottles at officers and issued threats, while a woman born in 1980 reportedly resisted by pushing and hitting officers. Three officers sustained minor injuries.
Two suspects are being investigated for coercion of an official, while two others were detained for insulting and belittling police officers. To avoid a conflict of interest, the Hvar police department has recused itself from the investigation, as one of the detained individuals is the brother of the Hvar police chief.
