Hévíz spa development tender fails to produce a single winner

An architectural tender for the development of Hévíz Lake and the Szent András Rheumatology Hospital and Spa has concluded without a single clear winner. Out of 14 submissions, seven designs were purchased to help refine the professional program and eventually form a master plan for the site.

Péter Naszádos, the independent mayor of Hévíz, emphasized the economic importance of the site as a world-class attraction. He noted that the municipality seeks to regain ownership of the spa, as the city currently holds no stake in the facility after its 24 percent share was returned to the state in 2013. The complex has seen significant deterioration over the last 15 years, including the closure of the central building of the lake bath two years ago.
