Hwa-seong Jeon releases new book on agritech and foodtech commercialization

Hwa-seong Jeon, CEO of CNT Tech, is releasing a new book titled ‘Redesigning Agritech through Foodtech’ on October 27. This publication serves as the first installment in a three-volume series focused on the principles of foodtech commercialization.

The book analyzes the entire agricultural and food value chain—from production and processing to distribution, cooking, and consumption—through the lens of technology and business models. Rather than focusing solely on technical performance, Jeon emphasizes the importance of sustainable cash flow, economic benefits, and solving real-world problems.

Drawing from his experience investing in approximately 140 agri-food startups, Jeon provides detailed case studies of 92 companies. Key examples include:

• Agricultural robotics: How companies pivot from difficult orchard terrains to logistics environments to ensure usability. • Smart farming: The necessity of analyzing electricity costs, depreciation, and investment recovery periods rather than just increasing yields. • Functional crops: The gap between technical excellence and consumer willingness to pay. • Livestock and aquaculture: Using sensor technology for calf movement detection and strategic market selection, such as mackerel farming in Jeju Island.

The book is intended for aspiring entrepreneurs, startup leaders, developers, venture capitalists, and accelerators, providing a practical framework to translate technology into viable business language.
