Hwang Dong-hyuk to direct new sci-fi film K. O. Club
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the Netflix series ‘Squid Game’, is preparing a new science-fiction feature film titled ‘K. O. Club’. The title is an abbreviation for ‘Killing Oldmen Club’.
Set in a future where technology allows the wealthy to purchase youth, the story explores the conflict between an older generation capable of artificially extending their lives and a younger generation that feels their future is being stolen. The film is expected to touch upon themes similar to ‘Squid Game’, such as social inequality, greed, and power dynamics.
Filming is scheduled to begin in early 2027. The cast includes several prominent South Korean actors, including Lee Byung-hun, Park Hae-soo, Oh Jung-se, Kim So-jin, and Cho Yeo-jeong. This project marks Hwang’s first feature film in approximately ten years. While no distributor has been announced, it remains uncertain if the project will be released via Netflix.
