Hwaseong Special City initiates administrative innovation reforms

Hwaseong Special City has launched a major administrative reform initiative to eliminate inefficient work practices and improve field-oriented governance. Under the leadership of Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, the city identified 73 tasks aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and strengthening citizen trust.

To date, 18 tasks have been completed, including the simplification of reporting materials, mandatory specification of meeting end times, and the establishment of a committee to select government-supplied materials to boost local business contracts. Other completed measures include securing comprehensive budgets for field-based civil complaints and integrating the management of sanitary products in public restrooms.

The city is currently implementing the remaining 55 tasks and plans to conduct monthly progress checks. For tasks requiring central government consultation or legislative changes, the city will actively propose institutional improvements. To ensure sustained momentum, a second round of task identification will begin in November to gather further suggestions from public officials.
