Hwaseong woman blocks parking spot with her body, sparking criticism

A middle‑aged woman stood in a vacant parking space at a public lot in Dongtan, Hwaseong city, Gyeonggi Province on a Friday evening. She refused to move for more than 15 minutes, repeatedly telling drivers that "the car will be here soon," even after the lot manager and her own husband asked her to vacate the spot.

The incident was shared on social‑media threads, drawing widespread online condemnation. Viewers called the behavior absurd and unsafe. Traffic‑law commentator Han Moon‑cheol explained that no law permits reserving a parking space by standing in it and that vehicles have priority over pedestrians in such areas.
