HX Expeditions reaches Alutiiq community of Old Harbor in Alaska

HX Expeditions has become the first commercial cruise provider to call at the Alutiiq community of Old Harbor on Kodiak Island, Alaska. The inaugural visit took place in August 2026 during an expedition cruise aboard the MS Roald Amundsen.

The visit was developed in partnership with the Old Harbor Native Corporation (OHNC) to ensure the experience is led by local perspectives. The program focuses on sharing the stories, traditions, and daily life of the Alutiiq people. Kristina Woolston, CEO of the OHNC, stated that the partnership allows the community to set the framework for sharing their culture and history while ensuring local residents benefit from the engagement.
