Hybrid meeting technology requires intuitive, app-like interfaces to prevent productivity loss

Dr. Sven Damberger, Managing Partner of MVC Videra, argues that modern meeting rooms must function as intuitive interfaces, similar to mobile applications, to support effective hybrid work.

A study by the Jabra Research Institute involving over 2,300 participants across seven countries highlights the productivity costs of technical friction. The research found that three out of four hybrid meetings encounter at least one technical issue. These disruptions result in an average loss of nearly eleven minutes per meeting, which accumulates to approximately three to four full working days per employee each year.

Damberger suggests that companies should move away from treating meeting rooms as mere collections of high-quality hardware components, such as cameras and microphones. Instead, they should be designed as integrated communication systems focused on a seamless user experience to maintain employee trust in hybrid collaboration.
