Hyderabad Agency Reclaims 2,180 Sq Yards at Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu for Lake Restoration

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) removed encroachments from the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu in the Uppal Assembly constituency, reclaiming 2,180 square yards. The operation demolished an under‑construction G+2 commercial building covering about 1,900 square yards and an auto‑garage of roughly 280 square yards, while permanent structures occupying about 12 acres were left untouched.

The 30‑acre lake has seen nearly 16 acres encroached over time; about four acres of temporary sheds and huts were cleared. HYDRAA recommended two‑bedroom houses for families living in those temporary settlements, and the Telangana government has begun prioritising their rehabilitation. The reclaimed land supports the ₹19‑crore Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu restoration and development project, enabling expansion of the lake’s FTL, bund strengthening, rejuvenation work and flood‑mitigation measures.
