Hyderabad authorities ban PoP Ganesh idol immersion

Hyderabad authorities, including the police and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), have implemented strict restrictions on Ganesh idol immersion to protect local water bodies from pollution. Following orders from the Telangana High Court, officials have banned the immersion of Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols in Hussain Sagar and other city water bodies.

To enforce these regulations, authorities have banned immersion activities on the main Tank Bund stretch to prevent environmental damage and mitigate massive traffic congestion. Instead, officials are directing the immersion process toward alternative locations, such as specially constructed baby ponds, ghats near NTR Marg, and People's Plaza, where additional platforms and cranes are being installed.

Police and civic officials are urging devotees and festival organizers to use eco-friendly clay idols. Awareness banners and fencing have been installed across the city to communicate these guidelines and ensure compliance with the court-mandated environmental protections.
