Hyderabad Cab Driver Granted Australian Residency for Bondi Beach Rescue

Mohammed Rahmat Pasha, a 38‑year‑old cab driver from Hyderabad, was awarded permanent residency in Australia for his actions during the terrorist attack on Sydney’s Bondi Beach on 14 December 2025. The IS‑inspired assault on a Hanukkah gathering killed at least 15‑16 people and injured more than 40. Pasha dodged gunfire and helped transport around 18‑20 injured victims to ambulances, staying on the scene despite shock and trauma. Australian authorities cited his bravery with the residency grant, nomination for national bravery awards, and plans to display his cap at the Sydney Museum. He told The Times of India, “People say my life has changed for the better, but images from that day still haunt me.” Applications for his wife and three children’s visas are also being processed.
