Hyderabad celebrates Bathukamma festival with large gatherings

The nine-day Bathukamma celebrations concluded on Sunday with large crowds of women participating in festivities across Hyderabad. A major highlight occurred at Tank Bund, where approximately 1,000 women in traditional attire processed from the Telangana Martyrs Memorial to Hussain Sagar for flower offerings and immersion.

The event featured performances by 700 artists showcasing Telangana’s cultural heritage, including Kommukoya, Gusadi, and Bonam art forms, alongside laser and fireworks displays. Celebrations also took place at IDL Lake, Nalla Cheruvu in Kukatpally, and Saroornagar lake.

Due to the large scale of the festivities, significant traffic diversions were implemented at Upper Tank Bund and Necklace Road between 2 pm and 11 pm. Restrictions affected routes near Telugu Thalli junction, Karbala Maidan, and various major intersections, with diversions also in place for inter-district and city RTC buses.
