Hyderabad faces heavy rain and traffic disruptions
Sudden heavy rainfall and thunderstorms disrupted traffic and caused waterlogging in several parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday. While the downpours provided relief from recent heat, they slowed vehicular movement at major junctions and caused water to accumulate in areas such as the Secunderabad Clock Tower underpass.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for intense rainfall across Telangana. A depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression and cross the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts near Kalingapatnam. This weather system is forecasted to bring widespread and extremely heavy rain to the region through September 26.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed municipal corporations, police, and the HYDRAA Disaster Response Force to remain on high alert. Officials have been instructed to coordinate closely to monitor the situation, clear blocked drains, and deploy personnel and machinery to prevent public inconvenience and manage waterlogging on main roads.
