Hyderabad highways face heavy congestion during Dasara festival rush
Major highways connecting Hyderabad to various districts experienced significant vehicular congestion as residents traveled to their hometowns for the Dasara festival. Heavy traffic was reported on several key routes, including the Hyderabad–Vijayawada, Hyderabad–Warangal, Hyderabad–Karimnagar, and Hyderabad–Kurnool highways.
On the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65), long queues formed at the Pantangi Toll Plaza in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The congestion was exacerbated by ongoing construction work at Choutuppal, where flyover and underpass projects aimed at fixing accident-prone areas have forced vehicles onto narrow service roads. Similar bottlenecks were observed at the Raikal toll plaza on the route to Kurnool and near Balanagar.
In addition to road congestion, major bus stations, including Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), saw a high volume of passengers. Authorities and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have implemented measures such as opening additional toll booths and diverting traffic to manage the flow, though commuters continue to report significant delays.
