Hyderabad man dies after jumping from building following alleged harassment
A 24-year-old man, Mir Sofiyan Ali, died after jumping from the seventh floor of an apartment building in Masab Tank, Hyderabad. Police report that the incident occurred during the early hours of August 20 following an altercation regarding a damaged Royal Enfield motorcycle.
Ali had reportedly borrowed the motorcycle from Mohammed Hanzala Pasha and Mohammed Isaq Uddin and damaged it in a road accident. According to investigators, the two men repeatedly pressured Ali to pay for repairs despite his stated inability to afford them. During a gathering at the Marwa Liberty apartment, the pressure allegedly continued, leading Ali to threaten to jump. Witnesses claim the accused responded by stating they did not care about his life.
Ali was treated at several facilities, including Mahavir Hospital and CARE Hospital, before passing away at Osmania General Hospital. Police have registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita involving abetment to commit suicide and joint liability. Five individuals, including Hanzala Pasha and Isaq Uddin, have been taken into custody.
