Hyderabad mosquitoes may be resistant to fogging, says Minister
Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu has informed the state assembly that mosquitoes in Hyderabad may have developed resistance to conventional fogging chemicals. During the assembly’s monsoon session, the minister noted that despite regular fogging operations conducted by officials, the mosquito population remains a significant issue for residents.
The concern follows reports from citizens in areas such as Manikonda, where residents have highlighted severe mosquito swarms, particularly near locations like Ibrahimbagh Lake. Some residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) regarding the effectiveness of current control measures.
Minister Babu stated that government officials will investigate the possibility of chemical immunity and work to develop alternative strategies to effectively manage the mosquito menace and provide relief to the public.
