Hyderabad, Pakistan hit by heavy rain causing floods and power outages

Heavy rain battered Hyderabad, Pakistan, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department recording up to 42 mm of rain in the city and 126 mm in nearby Mithi. The downpour flooded major roads, submerged market areas such as the City Cloth Market and Tower Market, and disrupted water supply after electricity to the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation was cut.

The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company reported that 285 of its 722 11 kV feeders were suspended, leaving 66 of the city’s 166 feeders without power. Police Commissioner Sajjanar urged residents to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and exercise caution on water‑logged roads, while emergency teams remained on alert for rain‑related incidents.
