Hyderabad police arrest four men for extortion via transgender impersonation

Police in Hyderabad have arrested four men for allegedly posing as transgender persons to extort money from a BMW owner in the Jubilee Hills area. The suspects, identified as Yadagiri, Satyanarayana, K Ramesh, and S Ramesh, were apprehended in Boduppal following an investigation that utilized footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras.

The incident occurred on August 21 near a coffee shop on Road Number 45, where the individuals intercepted the vehicle and forcibly demanded Rs 5,000. The case gained significant attention after a bystander's video of the confrontation went viral on social media.

This arrest follows a directive from Director General of Police CV Anand to launch a statewide crackdown on extortion and begging rackets. Anand emphasized that the initiative is aimed at curbing criminal activities and is not intended to target the transgender community as a whole.
