Hyderabad Police Arrest Phone Snatching Gang, Recover 17 Phones

Hyderabad police arrested three members of a mobile phone snatching gang in the Khairatabad zone after reviewing CCTV footage. The suspects – Mohammad Zafer (21), Mohammed Ather (22) and Lalatendu Behera (23) – were taken into custody near Satva Mall on August 4, 2026. Investigators recovered 17 mobile phones (five stolen and twelve unclaimed) and seized a blue Honda Activa used in the thefts.

On the same day, Hyderabad traffic police, working with the Chilkalguda police, retrieved a stolen Hero Splendor motorcycle within 90 minutes of the theft. Two suspects were detained and the bike was handed over for further investigation. Both operations were coordinated through rapid police response and local intelligence, highlighting the city’s effort to curb petty crime.
