Hyderabad police arrest three for throwing meat during Ganesh festivities
Police in Hyderabad have arrested three individuals following an incident during a Ganesh Chaturthi food distribution programme in the Madannapet area. The suspects, identified as Mohammad Imran Qureshi, Arshiya Begum, and Sameena, were reportedly residents of an apartment building near Chanchalguda X Roads.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Kiran Khare, the individuals allegedly threw meat, described by some reports as beef, from their residence toward the religious procession and food distribution event. The incident, which occurred around 3 p.m. on Sunday, caused brief communal tension and prompted protests by the Bharatiya Janata Party and other Hindu organisations.
Authorities deployed heavy police presence and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel to the area to maintain order. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing eyewitnesses to establish the full sequence of events. Officials have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information on social media and stated that legal action is being taken to address the disturbance of communal harmony and the hurting of religious sentiments.
