Hyderabad police chief orders 15‑foot limit for Ganesh idols to prevent accidents
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar met with the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and urged organisers to limit Ganesh idol heights to 15 feet. He cited past incidents, including two electrocution deaths and a statue getting stuck under a flyover, and explained that city overhead wires are typically 22 feet high while transport trolleys are about 4 feet tall. Sajjanar stressed that safety measures should be built in during idol manufacturing, warned against attempting to lift electric wires with sticks, and promised full police support to ensure a safe and peaceful Vinayaka Chaturthi celebration.
