Hyderabad Police Commissioner honors three men for rescuing child from lake

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has honored three citizens—auto driver Fakhruddin, private employee Balakrishna, and businessman Mohammed Afsar—for their bravery in rescuing a six-year-old girl from Hussain Sagar Lake.

The incident occurred after the child's mother allegedly threw her into the lake on October 8. Reports indicate the mother was struggling with medical expenses for the child's intestinal issues following the departure of her husband. The girl managed to hold onto a piece of bamboo before being saved by the three men.

During the felicitation, Commissioner Sajjanar praised the men for intervening immediately rather than merely recording the event on mobile phones. He described their actions as a “shining example of humanity” and urged those facing extreme financial or emotional distress to seek community support rather than resorting to irreversible actions.
